Bigul Mazdoor Dasta and Naujawan Bharat Sabha organise intensive campaigns across the country on May Day

May day was celebrated with vigour and fervour by workers and youths of Bigul Mazdoor Dasta and Naujawan Bharat Sabha in many parts of India. The campaigns aimed at remembering the martyrs of Hay Market
and the history behind the May day received warm response from workers in many parts of the country.

In Ludhiana , workers of Textile Hosiery Kamgar Union, Punjab and Karkhana Mazdoor Union, Punjab celebrated the May day by hoisting the red flag and paying homage to the martyrs of May day. Two minute silence was observed in remembrance of the martyrs of May day. Revolutionary cultural group “Dastak” presented revolutionary songs and plays on the occasion.

In west Delhi, Sooraj park , Baadli industrial areas and Rajavihar witnessed intensive campaigns organized by Bigul Mazdoor Dasta, Naujawan Bharat Sabha and Stree Mukti League. Pamphlet distribution , cycle procession and meetings were held to propagate the history and ideology behind the May day.

In Wazirpur industrial area of Delhi, Delhi Ispaat Mazdoor Union organized workers’ meeting on the occasion of May day. Political speeches and revolutionary songs were followed by filming of the documentary “Steel Mazdoor” based on the life and struggle of workers of Wazirpur industrial area. Along with this , the union also announced the establishment of Workers’ clinic and identity card camps for the workers of the region.

In Noida , May day was observed in Chotpur basti where a film show was organized. In the film show , short film “Ladayi jaari hai- Mazdoor diwas ki kahaani” was filmed to remember the glorious history of May day and it’s significance today. Along with this another short film was presented named “Mazdoor Maangpatrak Aandolan” in which it was shown that how after independence , the state policies favoring capitalist development have left the workers in misery and disarray and why it has become a necessity today for workers to organize as neighbourhood based unions in the form of area based workers’ committees and workers’ panchayats to fight for their rights.

In Northwest Delhi , Bigul Mazdoor Dasta , Naujawan Bharat Sabha and Stree Mukti League organized cycle procession, meetings and pamphlet distribution campaigns to mark the event of May day and propagate its history and idea in the Shahbad Dairy area.

In Mumbai , Bigul Mazdoor Dasta and Naujawan Bharat Sabha organized street plays , revolutionary songs, meetings and pamphlet distribution campaigns on the eve of 129th International Workers Day at Labor chowk, Sathenagar and other areas of Mankhurd region of Mumbai calling for workers to unite in order to struggle for their rights. During the programme , revolutionary songs were performed along with a street play named “May Diwas” and thousands of pamphlets were distributed among the workers.

In Haryana, Construction workers union along with Bigul Mazdoor Dasta and Naujawan Bharat Sabha organized various programmes on this occasion . “Mazdoor Adhikaar Rally” , people’s meeting , film shows and various other cultural and political campaigns were organized on the occasion of May day in Narwana.

In Bargadwa region of Gorakhpur , meetings , revolutionary songs and street play “Machine” was organized . After that a procession was carried out from Bargadwa to Gorakhnath Temple with placards depicting the photos and quotes of the martyrs of Hay Market
. The police administration frightened of workers unity accompanied the workers during the procession .
