Delhi Ispaat Mazdoor Union to organize Mazdoor Mela on the occasion of May day

Delhi Steel Workers Union is going to organize Mazdoor Mela (Workers’ fair) on the occasion of International Workers Day at Raja park in Wazirpur industrial area of Delhi.

The “Mela” , which is to be held from 29th April to 1st May, aims at making the workers aware of the struggle which sprouted 129 years ago in America demanding the bare minimum humane working conditions i.e. eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest ;  the history of the glorious struggle by the workers for a life worth being human , the glory of the victory achieved by their ancestors to force the capitalist regimes of a large number of countries to enforce the legislature of eight hour workday , better working conditions, democratic trade union rights etc; to caution the workers that today’s fascist regime is all set to curb their  hard earned rights by their ancestors and the time demands a similar fierce struggle to safeguard their rights and interests.  International Workers Day is the largest festival of workers. The history of this festival has inspired workers across the globe for more than a century and continues to do so. The sacrifices of martyrs of Haymarket should never be forgotten and the “Mela” aims at reminding the workers of their glorious struggle and supreme sacrifices.
