Update 11 August 2014 – Last Sunday, after 14 days of hunger strike, the Tuba group workers received their three months wages. The remaining demands still stand. Earlier that weekend, all arrested union leaders had been released.

In support of the women on hunger strike
Clean Clothes Campaign urges garment producer Tuba Group in Bangladesh to immediately pay all outstanding wages and bonuses to 1,600 of their employees. We stand in solidarity with the Tuba workers who enter the ninth day of their hunger strike demanding payment of their wages, overtime dues and allowances for the months of May, June and July including their Eid bonus.

Indonesian wage trial: human rights violations ‘systemic’
After a two-day public hearing, the jury of the People’s Tribunal to assess human rights abuses faced by workers in the Indonesian garment industry, announced its verdict today.
Judges found overwhelming evidence of ‘systematic violation of the fundamental right to a life lived with human dignity’ in an industry employing mostly women and said ‘urgent action must be taken’ by a variety of stakeholders. -
Indonesian garment industry receives human rights trial
Tomorrow marks the start of the fourth People’s Tribunal, a human rights trial held by garment workers’ unions and human rights groups to hear evidence of systematic human rights abuses in the Indonesian garment industry. The People’s Tribunal in Indonesia is the fourth of its kind to be held in Asia, the former being held in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and India.

Victory: All 23 released from jail in Cambodia
On Friday 30th May, the court convicted and then released the 23 garment workers and unionists who were arrested during the violent crackdown of the wage protest in Cambodia last January. Their sentences were suspended after huge pressure from international campaign groups and unions.
